Finding Game Tester Jobs

Have you ever heard that there are game tester jobs out there, ripe for the plucking? Well, they might not be a dime
a dozen, but there are game tester jobs available at a number of different companies. If you love to game and
believe you could spend hours playing video games, you may believe that you are the perfect person for a video
game tester position. But the question then becomes: how do I find these game tester jobs?

Scouring The Internet

The first thing you need to do if you want to be a game tester is to look around online  and start doing research
about the companies that are coming out with games in the near future. Dig up some background information about
the companies. The more you know, the better off you will be when it comes to earning your way into the company’s
good graces.

Once you’ve done some background searches on some of the leading companies, like Nintendo or Sony, join a few
forums. These are places where you can start talking to others who like to game. Don’t expect, however, that you
will be approached the first time you join a forum. There are dozens of people who pop onto forums wanting to grab
a quick job or two, and developers aren’t going to just hand them the opportunities because they don’t know if the
person is trustworthy or not. Think about what would happen if you received one of the first copies of a popular
game and spread the news all over the internet about how horrible you thought it was. The company could lose lots
of money. Make sure that you’re patient and friendly on the forums, and try to get on at least once a day. This way
your name will become known and people will realize that you are a stand up person.

Making Contacts

After you’ve been on the forums for a good while, start trying to make contacts. In this industry, like many others,
who you know is often more important than what you know. Don’t wait for developers to contact you. Instead, look
around the forums and really scrutinize what you read. There’s a good chance that you’ll be able to figure out who
is a developer or programmer and who is a software tester simply by what they say.

Once you’ve figured that out, start getting involved in conversations that they are having on the forums. Show your
willingness to learn and to get involved in the business. The more active you are, the more people will realize that
you are someone who truly loves to play games. Eventually, try sending a private message to one of the people that
you believe to be a tester or programmer. Don’t ask for a job right off, and don’t be annoying. Sooner than later,
you will develop a friendship and can explain that you would like to know about how to get into the testing business.
This is one way of many ways that you can find game tester jobs in the comfort of your own home!
